Adalberto Abbate
Back in 12/03/2011 / 03/26/2011
In an article two years ago, said Pierluigi Sacco that one of the most enigmatic of Italian art scene in recent years was his relative inability to deal with a powerful political issues, despite the abundance of ideas. The reason for this failure, he said, is that our artists, victims or accomplices of a corrupt system, "does not believe in the possibility of a change project that makes sense or is a real prospect." Back in Training (2011) reminds those comments, not so much for the questions (certainly political) that addresses, but because it is testimony to the chronic state of immobility for which each of us prefer to take refuge in their inner world rather than run into the complex issues collective. Physiological development of the recent uprising (2010), this new project is intended to cynically sleepy consciences, starting from the examination of a newspaper more disheartening. The guide post-conflict Adalberto Abbate is filled with memories and reminders; brings disappointments, setbacks and losses tones, however, adjusting to a reflection (on the history and art) to an increasingly dry and language even more shrewd and subtle. Silent and suspended, the subjects of the photos, such as sculptures and installations of this project, an animated scenario padding, crossed and abandoned, are survivors of a past that can no longer accommodate, witnesses of a landscape to be rebuilt.
