Friday, March 25, 2011 Labicano The Centre for Contemporary Art - CLAC opens its doors to the public and does with a group called The Wanderer and his Shadow, curated by Alessio Brugnoli.

Alessandro Di Gregorio, Salvatore Melillo, Andrea Martinucci, Dorian Rex, Mark Rea, Claudia Venuto, Vincent Bios, Ignazio Fresu, Valentina Majer, Luca Lillo, Marco Besana, Irene Salvatori, Francesca Fini, Gloria Vanni, Fabrizio Jelmini, Chiara Ferini , invited artists to confront the only dialogue written by Nietzsche.

A work, the philosopher, which arises in the long tradition that sees the trip as a metaphor for understanding the world and the ego, yet betrays her, because unlike the classical figures, from having a defined goal, a goal, the traveler has his renounced all objective.

And if the walker has no purpose, then why deal with the shadow, if you do not need predictions or answers? Simply speaking for himself, in that sense it is original and alienating feeling suddenly out-of-itself, the look with different eyes, getting rid of the masks and armor built to defend against every day life.

exhibition of CLAC try to play through images, mirrors and puzzles, the discussions inside the Nietzschean text, involving in the project some of the most interesting Italian artists, both established, and emerging in a broad dialogue between generations that is expressed through a diversity of forms of expression.

On the one hand, a group of artists who confront the man, no longer the measure of all things, but restless seeker, sometimes by their own instincts and crushed by the weight of life, sometimes in a heroic struggle and uncertain against them, but always engaged in a painful meditation on themselves and their role in the world. Second, the artists confront the Shadow, concepts, words and things that define our life.
All united by the awareness of how difficult it is for the Word, the Logos, give full meaning to the Real.

Yet this attempt should be made: the artist has in their awareness of the possibility of its failure to be heroic and tragic.
Art that is expressed in traditional forms of painting and sculpture, and innovative in those videos and installations and performances, modern shamanic rituals to make the man dominates its depths. The CLAC

opens its doors to the general public with the aim of establishing a dialogue with this playful and does so by activating, with the exhibition "The Wanderer and his Shadow", an interview tra l’Arte e i visitatori che come due buoni amici si pongono domande dirette o indirette su questioni spinose ed eternamente dibattute.

I consiglieri municipali Massimo Lucà e Gianluca Santilli hanno fortemente voluto l’apertura di questo prestigioso spazio che si presenta alla città di Roma e non solo con degli obiettivi ambiziosi:

1. Introdurre l’area archeologica circostante -Ad Duos Lauros- nei circuiti turistici, permettendo la valorizzazione delle catacombe di San Marcellino e Pietro e dei resti dell’epoca di Costantino;
2. Fungere da incubatore nel VI Municipio per realtà imprenditoriali come gallerie e studi d’arte;
3. Fungere da vetrina per artisti emergenti;
4. Allowing a widespread and pervasive knowledge of contemporary
5. Collaborating with young galleries and art magazines and culture.
